Past Events:

After finishing a public visioning and planning process, the project is in the environmental review phase. The Planning Department published the draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) on Feb. 27, 2019, and accepted public comment through 5 p.m. on April 15, 2019. A public hearing on the Better Market Street Draft EIR was held by the Planning Commission on April 4, 2019.


Project team members from Public Works, SFMTA and SF Planning held a community open house on Tuesday, August 27, 6:30-7:30 p.m., at Sanchez Elementary School, 325 Sanchez Street, to discuss proposed changes to Market Street east of Octavia designed to enhance safety for everyone, including two design options for the intersection of Market and Van Ness.
